Just for today, do not worry.

Just for today, do not anger.

Honor your parents, teachers and elders.

Earn your living honestly.

Show gratitude to every living thing.

~Dr Mikao Usui

I gave you information yesterday to help explain where Reiki healing began and the basics of what it is. Now, maybe you’re wondering how a person becomes certified to practice. You may also be thinking about how they actually use Reiki to facilitate healing. If you were thinking of scheduling a healing with a practitioner, what would happen in the session?

Please allow me to explain, as I hope to give you a ‘feel’ for the many benefits of this special healing energy.

In order to earn certification for the ‘Master’ level of practicing Reiki healing, one must complete three levels of classes that teach the origin, technique, and how to educate others on the Usui Reiki Healing System.  Once the student completes the three levels, he/she is a certified Master Reiki practitioner. A Master may now begin teaching others.  On the other hand, you can look at it as the “Student becomes the Teacher.”

There are three courses one must attend and complete to learn how to become a Master Reiki practitioner/teacher. You may begin to use Reiki healing on others after level one or two, but you need all three levels to be certified as a Master

  1. First Level –In this class, students are taught the basics of what Reiki is and how to position the hands. They learn about Dr. Usui, the first person to use Reiki energy for healing and the history from 1922 to the present. With guided meditation, they feel the Reiki energy flowing through their body. They learn to share this energy with others. Some teachers will allow the students to begin practicing immediately in weekly Reiki circles.
  2. Second Level – The second level is to have the student practice the healing art on others and themselves. They learn the importance of properly using their hands on various stress points and chakras of the clients’ body. They learn about each of the 4 Reiki symbols and how using them, strengthens the treatment procedure.
  3. Third Level is the last course the student attends in order to earn Master level.  In the last class of the 3-part course, the student learns the advanced techniques of healing medical ailments that may be more serious in nature, and how to connect with and use the higher levels (vibrations) of energy. The certification received at this level, enables the ‘student’ to become the ‘teacher’.

What happens during a Reiki healing session?

In a Reiki session, the practitioner is seeking to transmit loving, healing and divine energy from God and the universe to the client. The practitioner will have the client lay down on his or her back on the message table.

The practitioner then generally starts at the head and works down toward the feet, stopping at the knees or possibly the ankles. There are general hand positions that the majority of practitioners follow, at least to some degree. These hand positions attempt to cover all the seven main chakras and all the major organs. Each hand position is held in one place for 2 – 5 minutes, sometimes longer. With intuition and meditation, the practitioner simply allows the energy to channel out his or her hands and into the client. Although the hands are at times placed lightly on the clients body, there is no physical manipulation whatsoever during a Reiki session. The healing is done on a purely energetic level. Once the practitioner has finished with the front of the clients’ body, they may have the client turn over, and will continue with similar hand positions for the back, once again starting at the head and working down toward the feet. Clearing the body from head to toe of negative energy that can rob you of your health.

After all the positions on the back are completed, it is now time for the practitioner to “ground” the client back down again. The practitioner grounds the client by moving to the feet and channeling the energy into the soles of the feet. This works to open the chakras on the bottom of the feet, which connects us to the planet.

As you slowly rise from the table, you may feel a myriad of things through-out your body. It’s not unusual to feel a little foggy, happy for no ‘apparent’ reason, relaxed, calm, tingly feeling in arms, legs, and feet. Many feel as if they have awoken from a very restful nap, but have no memory of falling asleep. Some actually do fall asleep! Any, all, or any combination of these things is perfectly normal. Once you become accustomed to what Reiki energy feels like, you will see how loving, nurturing and perfect the Creators’ universal energy is.

Give it a try! You have everything to Gain! 🙂

certainly like your web site however you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts.

A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome
to tell the truth on the other hand I will certainly come again again.

    • I so appreciate your feedback. It was a bit of a surprise because I’m particular about not making mistakes like that in my post. I went to each and every post I’ve written so far and the Spell check came clean except for one word … ‘Tingly’ … If you see any others will you please contact me! I want the readers experience to be positive, not “bothersome”. 🙂 Thanks again!
